Features of the Whole Home Dehumidifier

Modern homes are more tightly built for energy efficiency, but the unfortunate side effect is that excess moisture can get trapped inside. While tighter homes help with energy bills since they keep warm or cold air out, it can lead to issues with the home and/or your health. When a home is tighter it may trap excess moisture since it is harder for the home to remove the humidity. By not maintaining the desire humidity level, you can experience:

  • Respiratory issues
  • Mold issues
  • Fatigue and more.

The excess humidity can also have a negative effect on the home such as wood damage, increased pest activity along with peeling paint and wallpaper.

Historically, most people have relied on their air conditioner (HVAC) for removing moisture in the air. In many cases, the AC is simply not enough to get the home to your desired humidity level. Therefore, you may need to add a whole house dehumidifier.

Why does it matter whether a home has excess humidity?

Excess humidity could lead to the following issues:

How Does the Whole HoUse Dehumidifier Work?

Field Controls dehumidifiers monitor humidity levels and automatically take steps to control the humidity. Here is the process:

  1. When the relative humidity rises above the selected setpoint (set on the unit), the dehumidifier will energize and use a mechanical process to condense out the excess water in the air.
  2. Air cools by passing over a cold coil, causing water in the air to turn into liquid droplets.
  3. The system then reheats the air through the condenser coil and distributes it back into the room.
  4. The excess water is then directed out of the home automatically. No need to empty a bucket like you would with a portable unit.
