Field Controls pleated 4″ replacement filters contains enough air filtering capacity to clean air for months without restricting air flow or putting a strain on the air handling system. Our 4″replacement filters media is electrostatically “supercharged” for better efficiency and longer service life. It is moisture resistant and will not support the growth of bacteria or other microbes.

These HVAC filter models are direct 4″ replacement filters for Field Controls Healthy Home System Trio Air Purifiers. These direct replacement filters are available with MERV 8, MERV 11, or MERV 13 rated filtering media. Field Controls media filters are proven to have a higher particulate holding capacity than competitive filters and are more efficient than traditional 1-inch HVAC filters. Field Controls offers MERV 13 filters with activated carbon for applications with excessive levels of organic and chemical odors. Carbon filters remove impurities primarily through adsorption.

What is MERV? Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, also known as MERV rating, is a measurement scale designed to represent the expected performance of an indoor air filter when trapping particles in the range of 0.3 to 10 microns. The MERV rating is from 1 to 16. Higher MERV ratings correspond to a greater percentage of particles captured on each pass, with a MERV 16 filter capturing more than 95% of particles over the full range. Field Controls offers Media Air Cleaners with MERV 8, MERV 11, and MERV 13 ratings.

According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC), indoor air contains three types of pollutants: Germs, Particulates, and Gases. This pollution is a major source for allergic reactions. Some 35% of allergic reactions are due to Particulates, 31% of allergic reactions are due to VOCs, and 34% of allergic reactions are due to Germs.

Filters with a MERV rating of 8 are a basic air filter that offers excellent home air filtration. A MERV 8 air filter is good for homeowners that don’t smoke, do not have pets, and don’t have allergies. MERV 11 filters are best for homeowners with pets and/or allergies. The air filtering benefit with a MERV 11 filter reduces pet dander, dust, pollen and other particles that are present in the home. MERV 13 filters will capture the smallest dust particles, dirt, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander. An air filter with a MERV Rating of 13 is an excellent solution for homeowners with regular allergies and who own multiple pets. A MERV 13 filter is typically more expensive, however the high quality filtration is worth the cost.
