PASSIVE SAFETY THAT ACTIVATES WHEN IT MATTERS MOST

In combustion systems, overheating can cause serious issues, from equipment damage to unsafe venting conditions. Thermal safety switches are designed to detect excess heat and interrupt burner operation before a potentially hazardous situation occurs.
Field Controls thermal safety switches are compact, reliable, and easy to install in vent connectors, barometric dampers, or appliances. They act as a failsafe backup, shutting down the burner if the flue temperature exceeds safe limits.
WHY THERMAL SAFETY PROTECTION MATTERS
Protects Against Overheat Events
Monitors for excessive flue temperature, signaling unsafe conditions before damage or system failure occurs.
Improves Venting Safety
Helps identify blockages or backdrafting that could result in flue gas buildup or overheating.
Supports Code Compliance
Required in many mechanical code jurisdictions for barometric damper and vent safety on oil-fired systems.
Simple, Proven Technology
No complex controls, just a mechanical switch that responds instantly to abnormal heat.

HOW IT WORKS
The thermal safety switch (TSS) mounts directly onto the vent pipe or into a barometric damper. If flue temperatures rise above a preset limit (commonly 350°F or 250°F depending on model), the switch opens the electrical circuit to the burner, shutting it down.
This interruption remains in effect until the system is manually reset, ensuring the issue is identified and resolved before operation resumes.
